When the Herdman kids—the rowdiest, most notorious children in town—unexpectedly take over the annual church Christmas pageant, everyone is certain disaster is on the way. They have never heard the Christmas story, they have absolutely no idea how a pageant is supposed to work, and they have plenty of their own ideas about how Bethlehem should be portrayed!

Reluctant director Grace Bradley and her family find themselves trying to make sense of the chaos as the entire community begins to see the Herdmans—and the Christmas story—in a completely different way.
